Royal Message Regarding the Marchica Med Africa Initiative

« We do not see Africa as a market to sell and unload Moroccan products, or as a setting for quick profit, but rather as a space for joint action aimed at the development of the region, serving the African citizen. It is in this context that Morocco, alongside African states, contributes to the implementation of human development projects and social services that have a direct impact on the lives of the region’s populations [.]. The best demonstration of this is the completion of the project to protect and enhance Cocody Bay in Abidjan, as part of an original cooperation model between the relevant public companies in Morocco and Côte d’Ivoire, with the active involvement of the private sector in both countries ».

Excerpt from the speech delivered by His Majesty King Mohammed VI, may God assist him, on the occasion of the 63rd anniversary of the King and the People’s Revolution, August 20, 2016.

A Deployment Born from a Royal Visit

It all began in 2014 during an official visit to Cocody Bay. On one side was the beauty of the site, showcasing exceptional potential. On the other, pollution that was harming the magic of the place. The situation reminded many of the story of the Marchica lagoon. This gave rise to the idea of exporting Marchica Med’s Moroccan expertise to Sub-Saharan Africa.

Marchica Med Services

Advising, assisting, and supporting local authorities in safeguarding and enhancing coastal and lagoon wetland areas is at the heart of Marchica Med’s expertise, deployed internationally. To achieve this, we share our know-how in hydraulic engineering, financial structuring, spatial planning, and mobility.

Examples of Success on a Continental Scale

Cocody Bay and Ebrié Lagoon in Côte d’Ivoire are among the two flagship sites where we have been active since 2016 through our subsidiary Marchica Med Africa. These project management assistance initiatives have led to the emergence of landmark achievements: road infrastructure, bridges, urban parks, a marina, and water sanitation.
